Watching the “Meet the Medic” trailer for the umpteenth time, I was struck with the realization that the Medic is a complete airhead. He’s sloppy, easily distracted, and he has an incredibly cavalier approach to the scientific method. Inversely, he’s intuitive, good at improvising and he has no shortage of candor.
It’s kind of funny, comparing him to the Medic that has existed in fandom since the game’s release. While I’d felt that his theatrical emotes suggested he wasn’t quite as stiff-lipped as most fans like to imagine him as, I always figured that he was a bit more meticulous… but he is our Medic, no matter the variations in his personality that exist in-game and in the fandom.
I still stand by my decision to slot him as Pisces in my zodiac thing…
I’d like to see one fic that characterises Medic in the same way that Meet the Medic did. That medic seems like a lot of fun. I read one once, but it was one of those fics where re-spawn isn’t a thing, so he wasn’t really in it, and mostly used to show off the horrors of war.
Though I only got into TF2 AFTER Meet the Medic; it must be hard for people to let go of their old head canons.
